I am new here and love reading the posts.Very helpfull...
I have a 1995 explorerXlt 2wd and will be adding a dvd and screen.
My questions for a screen about 5.6 inches where would you put it the back of the seats seem to have heavy bars in them..
also where is the best place to mount the player under the back seats i assume???
also if you guys add a xbox to it do i need to install permantly one of those inverters and if so wire it directly to the battery??

also how do you get tv into it do you add some kind of antenna to the system,
My job is on the road and at times i have an hour wait at times in front of someones house and this would be very nice.
any of you guys install a screen in the dash also???

thanks for all your help in advance..

Hi-

welcome to the site man, not everyone is on all the time. I always check this forum but this is the first time i've seen this post.

i know the answers to 90% of those questions.

1. it is very hard and probably takes a professional to properly install headrest type monitors in seats that don't have headrests. Your better off finding a different location. Perhaps a fold down screen would work? or one in your dash.

2. a dvd player is best located just about anywhere it stays dry, out of the way of feet, and where you can reach it. Mine is in my glovebox personally.

3. with an x box your going to want to use a permanently wired power inverter like you thought.

4. in order to get the audio signal into your system you will need an FM MODULATOR these run between $45 and $70. They are very easy to hook up.

5. if you upgrade to aftermarket 1 din source unit, you can stack two of them on top of each other in the factory opening with just a little modification. However, it will take some creativity and the cojones to cut the stock dash bezel a bit.

do a search for lcd screens on the site and check out some ways other people have done this.

I personally have an 11" in my stock hu location, and have set up another member with a 6" in that location as well. You can't beat watching a movie or television while driving.

noot to sound dumb but what is the hu

head unit (IE: CD Player)

"cojones "????

Pronounced CAH-HONIES- meaning balls!!!

Ya gotta have the guts and the balls to cut in to that dash, I'll testify to that one.
