does anybody know where the best spot in the 97 sports to mount tweeters at to improve stereo sound? i have a couple ideas. one would be on the door right above the thing used to move the side mirrors. and also placed on the same place on the other side.. then maybe for the back placeing one to the side of the back hatch. plz give me some ideas. im trying to figure out what im going to want and where i want to place it before i go spend the money. :frustrate

thx,

You don't really need to place tweeters in the back cause you wont really hear them. But I placed mine in the front close to where you suggested:

I placed them there because the door panels are fairly flat and make mounting easier. Good luck!

You can stealth mount them like mine in the door. I like that better for my tastes.

It depends on your ears. Some people like the smoothness of silk tweets, others like the crispness of metal tweets. To me, metals are too bright and tend to be harsh, so I have silk.

i had my tweeters mounted in the kickpanels and it sounded great. but now i have them mounted in place of the ashtray. i like them better this way.

the ashtray?!?!

Never thought of that one leenjen!
Maybe you should look into Q-logic kickpanels for your ride from Crutchfield, or your local audio store. These panels are pretty inexpensive, and place the tweeter the same distance from your ears as the mid ranges (I'm assuming you've got components, and hence the tweeter question) for good imaging.
I think they run around $125.

yeah, i removed the ashtray and used metal speaker grille material to make a baffle to hold the tweets. i shaped it to match the dash. and i plan on putting neon behind it so it glows through the grille.

can u post pics? i would really like to see your ashtray tweeter placments leenjen

unfortunately i dont have any pics. and i'm probably the only person who still doesnt own a digital camera. it's nothing special. i just didnt need the ashtray, and the location was a great spot for the front sound stage.

yea if you would mind posting pictures.. i would like to look at them too
