I wonder if Ford and U-Haul have a little problem with each other? Or U-Haul just might to file for bankruptsy

so, um, they're pissed at Ford for other reasons? this doesnt even make sense...

"solely on business reasons." is just a cop out. i was planning on renting a u-haul to tow back a friends motorcycle he bought when down here when i went home in january...what the heck am I gonna do now? are there any other companies?

Yes, other places rent trailors. Bledsoe and A1 are some around here.

You could try renting from a local garage that rents out u-hauls. They usually dont give a crap about the car. they just want the money. I rented a trailer many times from a local garage and was never asked what car i was towing with. just stay away from the U-haul centers.

good idear...but this still sucks.

HI U-Haul, I would like to rent a trailer
What vehicle sir?
A Kia Spectra
OK, When would you like to pick it up
Youre not interested in the fact that it can't tow itself, much less a trailer?
No, that's not our problem
OK, what about my explorer?
Oh No, We can't rent to you with that, thats against our policies and could get us sued.

WTF!?
I just guess we will all have to take our business elsewhere, all of the multi million of us who drive explorers everyday who don't seem to have problems handling them!!

Scott

I was needing a U-haul to haul my friends jeep from here (Central Nebraska) to Indiana this summer for a wedding. So what am I going to tell Rachel now? "I'm sorry, U-Haul won't let me rent them because I drive a Ford"?

There are no competitors here in Nebraska..I really got the shaft on this one!

F-U U-HAUL!!!

F-U U-HAUL!!!

this is what bothers me... i can get a competitor to rent one down here, but Ill have no freakin place to drop it off when i get back home...and i sure as heck dont want to tow an empty trailer around for an extra 1200 miles.

I just don't know how to tell a chick driving a open cabin jeep from california to Nebraska that I have no way of getting it to Indiana, thats all.....I just want to know the REAL REASON on WHY they're doing this!

Thats all!

i needed an autotransport last year to place my explorer on... they said the explorer was too big a vehicle for it, although it was under its weight limit....

but the let me do it considering the tow vehicle was a 99 dodge ram 24v cummins turbo diesel 3500 ext cab dually 4x4

When i used UHal to tow my demo derby cars i had to lie to them when i told them what type of vehicle i was towing because they were full size vehicles (grand marquis and Delta 88) and it would have exceeded the weight limit allowed for the explorer. I told them that i was towing a mustang which was within the weight limits.

I dont know of any compeditors around here in Rhode Island that will rent me just the car carrier that is local (Uhal was 2 minutes from my house). There was one company that would rent me a car carrier but i also had to rent one of their trucks to go with it at that point it would be cheaper to just call a tow truck.

I tried to be smart one time by calling AAA to tow my painted demo car. The driver pulled up to my house ... laughed his ass off and told me he could get fired if he towed it and drove away. I guess AAA is only allowed to tow registered cars.

Ok, U-haul sucks. But I think they are the only ones that rent one-way trailers.

I can't believe they willing to lose the business of the most popular SUV on the market.

So, my 2000 Limited is becoming a Mercury Mountaineer and my 2001 Sport Trac is becoming a 4dr Ranger.
Cuz I was going to have to rent a trailer or 2 to get stuff home from my mom's home here in Las Cruces to my home in Houston.

Please don't anybody let them know that Mountaineer's are the same!!!!

With the mentality of U-Haul and some of their employees you could probably get away with that. Even better for 5 bucks or so you can get refrigerator magnets from Toys R Us and just stick those on your truck. They wouldn't notice, would they?

Just another boilerplate corporate statement that
says something and nothing at the same time..

Sadly I must add to this. I was looking for a front receiver hitch before the yuletide. Uhaul offered one installed for 149 bucks. When I showed up a week later intending to get a rear tube type as well. I was told that U-haul was not allowed to install products on the ford explorer. Nor would they any longer make available associated products through their retail locations. Too bad, but then again Central 4WD is just up the road in everett, and they were cheaper for the Hidden Hitch. I am rather irritated, by their refusal to deal with us, but if I have to buy a trailer it means I have to buy something to put on it too:D

You are correct that the web page does show an Explorer, but you will also notice it is from the early 90’s. They are working at this time to remove that photo from the web page.

HAHA:rolleyes:

well luckly everyother gas station in my town and for a couple towns around rents u hauls, so i shouldnt have a problem getting oen if needed........

But stil lthsi is total Bull...........

PEACE:mad:

The Explorer is the #1 SUV in America. Uhaul is going to lose a lot of money on this one. We're not talking lift kits here - we're talking trailers!
