So I went ahead and put new upper ball joints on my Explorer. (Thanks to Rockauto.com for GREAT prices on Moogs) I didn't pay any attention to the position of the alignment cams because it was going in for an alignment just as soon as I finished. I get it to the shop and had to wait 2 hrs before it got onto the rack. Not 10 minutes later, the tech comes into the waiting room and informs me that it doesn't need an alignment! He shows me the screen and the print-out... All Green and all measurements in spec! I didn't even try to eye-ball it!

There still seems to be a noise coming from the front that sounds a lot like tire noise (kinda like a prop airplane) Does anyone know if worn CV joints make noise? I dont' beleive it needs wheel bearings, I put a right on last year.

If it was the factory camber bolts that explains it. The factory ones are non adjustable.

As far as the noise goes how bad are the inside of the tires worn? With the ball jonts being bad the tires would have been leaning in at the top causing un-normal tire wear which would cause the noise you described.

Nope, not factory I had the uppers replaced once before (including cams.) Tires are practically brand new... about 2 weeks old. No unusual wear because only one side needed to be replaced and there wasn't that much movement. I did both so I could have the replaceable ball joints on both sides.

When is the last time you checked your front diff fluid level?

Bryan, I accidentally deleted your post when I deleted the inappropriate response to it. Sorry about that...
