Uneven braking force

I recently replaced the entire brake assembly for the left and right front wheels. Calipers, disks, etc.. When you push on the brakes the driver side front brake actuates faster and harder than the left side. So much so as to forcefully pull the truck to the left. I was told the fluid sending unit may be bad. Originaly replaced the front brakes because the caliper on the drivers side front locked closed and wore the disk nearly in two. I have also been told the truck only has rear ABS? I have a 93 2 wheel drive XLT. I spent over $700 bucks having someone replace the front brakes. I would like to fix this problem my self and save a few dollars but, I am not sure where to start. Has anyone experiaced this before and could give me some insight as to what to start with?

I had that problem on my EX. Ive watched mechanics do alot of strange things to my EX. Like the tire dealer who took my front left auto hub cover off and when they tried to put it back on and couldnt figure out why it wouldnt stay on, forced it on and put the rim back on. Wouldnt you know it my auto hub broke. (now I use Discount Tire instead) Thats why Ive decided Ill try to do any mechanical work myself. I took my EX to a friends shop because it needed a front brake job. He was going to cut me a deal. When I drove away, when I stepped on the brakes my truck pulled to one side and the steering wheel would shake side to side. I told my "friend" of the problem and he said "Its a Ford" jokingly. He looked at it, I got my Ex back. What ever he did didnt fix it 100%. Shortly thereafter I took my EX to a local shop to fix something and they told me I needed a brake job. The pads were extremely worn on one side of the caliper. At first I didnt believe them until I saw it. Apparently the slider pins(some call them shims) had been causing the problem. Not replacing these with a new one (since these were hanging up not allowing the caliper to brake evenly on both sides) This could be the source of the problem. ( or you could possibly have air in your brake lines or a bad master cylinder leaking internally?) From what your telling me I would check the slider pins. I dont think the RABS module (rear anti lock brake,aka proportioning valve) could cause this problem. Often times its just cheaper (faster) to replace a whole system yourself raher than being jerked around by someone who cant diagnose /fix one little thing. Get a Haynes or Chilton manual and fix it yourself.

Forgot to tell you. The 91-94 had what they (Ford) like to call RABS module. Its for the rear anti lock brakes which all vehicles in these years have. Some vehicles have 4-wheel ABS identified by the motor infront of the brake master cylinder. Some people dont like the RABS module and remove it. I like mine the way it is or at least the way its going to be.(replaced, leaking). I think its lame to call it anti-lock in the first place. Maybe some body else will enlighten you with more knowledge than myself. Come on somebody.........anybody! (my motto get a Haynes manual and fix it youself)
