I tore part of the 96 dash today seeing if its possible to change the 4wd system to the 97+ system and any way while I was in there I found this plug, it has two prongs in it. The 96 is base XLT so wasn't sure if it was for stock fog lights that came in the more upper class XLT's like my 95 or not. Here is a pic, I'd like to know because if thats the case I want to put stock fog light setup on this truck too. I do not have my 95 ex home and don't know when I'm bringing it back home thats why I ask if you know.

I figured someone here may know, like I said I haven't gotten my other explorer here at home to take the dash apart to look to see if its got the plug.

Its near the steering wheel but higher than the steering shaft, I never noticed it until I took the bezel out that hold the radio and everything in. I looked to the left in that hole and there it was, it I found it easier to mess with reaching up under the dash on the right hand side of the steering wheel.

well lets see...what does your XL bring with it? Cruise control? 4x4? winch controls (?)?

96 too early for an air ride?

its an XLT with basic features its got control-trac, power windows/locks/mirrors and cruise control (cruise works). I think they started the air ride in the 95 Limiteds. No winch controls, no stock fog lights either.
