update sync breaks things?

hey fellow forders, i have a quick questions, before I stupidly upgraded my sync software BT4T-14D546-EB Version 1.1
my navigaton used to display the traffic flow, in blue, yellow or red, as soon
as I did this status checker update, the traffic doesnt show up. does anyone know if theres a simple fix for this?

The status checker doesn't actually update anything on sync. It just downloads the sync version information for you to upload back to the site. Coincidental, but try a master reset, and/or checking your sirius subscription status.

thanks wicked, I realized after freaking out for a bit, that it is indeed just a version checker, I just found it weird that It stopped working as soon as I did that. our subscription is up to date, when I check it, everything is green and says subscribed, I guess Ill just try the reset trick.

Thanks Peter, actually its my wifes car, traded in 06 mdx for explorer and the 2011 blows it out of the water. My first car was a 99 mustang, and im really considering getting another one when im done with my car. I actually prefer driving her car over my 3 series. Its like being a spaceship with all the technology. So far, ford has my attention, the quality and fit of the materials is years away from where it was a decade ago. looking forward to car chat with you guys.

Well im confused about these Sync updates and upgrades. On my sync my ride web site it shows BT4T-14D546-Eb as an "upgrade" ready to be downloaded to a USB thumb drive. The posts ahead of this one indicates that this number is a status system checker and not a update or upgrade.

So which is it? Why would i want to download and install a system checker onto a thumb drive when all the current dealer sync installs are shown for my car on the web site. The current dealer installed sync updates are shown for for my vehicle on the website They were installed on the 19th of february when i picked my vehicle up.

The web site shows the new BT4T- 14D546-EB as an upgrade ready to be installed if i choose too. It does not sound like this number is a system checker to me.

The status checker will always be available as an update. Sometimes the dealerships don't update the system w/ the version they may have installed, or the website will just be out of sync (no pun intended), and the version checker will allow you to update the site w/ your current version so that available updates are displayed correctly.

If the website is up to date w/ your current version, there is no need to run the checker, if you click on updates you will see on the right it says "Downloads waiting" and should read 0 since no actual updates are available for you.

They probably should list the status checker under a different section on the site, but at one time it was released as an update to allow all the owners to get their correct versions registered with the site.

not to be a jerk, but it's actually listed under "Dealer-Installed Upgrades and SYNC Tools" and this clearly qualifies as a "SYNC Tool" .. just sayin'

We all agree the wording and placement of the tool adds some confusion to new users, but I explained in the first reply, and will explain again, which should eliminate the confusion.

The above listed "update" is not an update. It runs like any other user installed update and will grab the current sync version information from your system, and then when you upload the results to the website it will put the website version info in sync w/ your current vehicle.

It does not need to be used if the website is showing the current sync version that is installed in your vehicle, and there are no ill effects from running the versioning tool as many times as you want, it doesn't update anything on the device itself.

I hope the confusion has been cleared up

Master reset fixed all my Problems with the nav not showing traffic.

It appears that the syncmyride site in order to avoid more confusion about the status checker has moved it to it's own section w/ a button, and description.

yeah, I noticed that last night, however since ive already installed the status checker and reported to my sync that i succesfully installed it, it shouldnt be telling me to download the checking software.
On another note were bringing in the car this week, for a couple of issues, with the mft shutting down and not coming back on, plus the back up camera wouldnt turn on a couple of times, and the iphones arent pairing consistantly.
The ford rep at the dealer who teaches new owners how to use the sync, said they're hearing many reports of sync not working and needing to be replaced. Oh well as long as they fix the computer, we love the rest of the car.

It's not telling you to download it.. it says "Note: Only certain users will need to download this item, as it is a troubleshooting tool."

and what I'm saying is.. this is not an update. It's a tool to bring the website in sync with what is actually on the device. It's there in case if a dealer does an update on the sync, or you do an update on the sync, and the results never get uploaded back to ford, or an error occurred while uploading the results to the site. It should always be available.

Might be a dumb question but here goes. What does the serious install have to do with the back up camera issues?

I have the same problem in my 2014 xlt. The back up camera is reversed. Looks as is I'm turning around and looking out my back window.

Sirius has nothing to do with the rearview camera. I don't see where anyone has connected the two. One member mentioned that he was going to the dealership to have several issues looked at which included the camera not always coming on.
Have you recently replaced your camera? Sometimes when a camera is replaced and it isn't programmed to the vehicle, that can happen.

You do realize that the last post was over 10 years ago.
