I have a 2000 Ford Ranger, 2 wheel drive with a six cylinder. I purchased upper control arm and ball joints assembly from Autozone. The left and right side assemblies had different part numbers. The left (driver) side installation went well but I had a problem installing the right (passenger) side assembly. The assembly mounted the frame easily but the ball joint is too large to fit into the spindle. If you are familiar with the spindle I tried to enlarge the opening but that did not work. So I put the old ball joint into the spindle with no problem. I even installed the old and new left side assembly ball joints into the right spindle with no problem. It appears that the right side ball joint is larger than the left. After comparing the old left and right assemblies they look identical. I would like to know if the left and right upper control arm and ball joint assemblies are the same part or part number. All the parts stores have two part numbers. HELLLPPPP!!!!
