Alright in the last couple of days the display has worked but then faded to nothing. I hit the menu button and it comes backup for a couple of seconds then its dead again. Now it doesn't work at all, this isn't something that is very important really its just kind of cool to see what the temp is from my car. But does any one have any ideas on how to fix this? When i get home tonight i am gonna disconnect the bat to see if that fixes it, but does any one have any other ideas?

Thanks for the help =-)

I'm on here searching for an answer to that same question. My temperature display console was working fine on the way into work, completely dead that evening (but the reading lamps work), and then suddenly started working again. That was two days ago. Yesterday it was a repeat of the same - it doesn't fade out, or flicker, it's just there or gone!

Just a thought; Is it the display that is going out OR is it the entire cluster going out? Big difference since the brightness level of the display is controlled by the rheostat (variable resistor) that also controls the backlit instrument cluster as well as the radio display intensity. Try moving the rheo back and forth a few times. May have a bad spot on it. Or perhaps it is simply a grounding problem. I had the same problem with my OEM CD/Cassette Radio. The part of the harness that went into the back had just worked out enough so that there was an intermittent connection. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice and suggestions.

The display just disappeared. It came on sporadically a couple of times, but now the display is gone completely...it never flickered or faded. Both lights still work fine and I can't find any blown fuses. I took the overhead console out yesterday and played around with it some. There was a white plastic covering over the electronics that I might try to remove some other day (if I can get a replacement part from Ford first)...but it seemed to be in pretty tight. I'm not sure where to go from here other than replacing either the temp/compass electronics or the whole overhead console (whichever is the cheapest option from Ford). Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. It's not a critical component of the vehicle, but I've sort of gotten used to it and it would be nice to have all parts in working order.

Yeah like wise. Mine has been completely gone for a week+ now. Not even reseting the computer did anything and all fuses are good as well.
