I like to keep my iPod touch attached to the USB all the time - including when the Explorer is not running and sitting in the garage. Today I happened to notice that the iPod is charging even when the car is not running. Does anyone know if this will cause a battery drain.

I have left my iPod in for a week. Then I turned on the accessories for 30 minutes and then I started the car. The battery of the car has a pretty long charge.

Anything that is on will cause battery drain. what you have to look at is how much. something like an IPOD can be left plugged in for weeks. same goes for gps units, sat radio units, radar detectors, etc. very small items should not cause any problems as long as you have a good battery.

i would not recommend playing the radio for more than 20 min or so if you have some "boom" hooked up to it. its not good for the system or the battery.
