Who do we hit-up on here for used SOHC parts? I know there's someone, I'm just at a loss....

My 00M12 install went horribly awry today. Long story short, I need to obtain a lower thermostat housing before I can begin the reassembly. What a mess I got myself into!

I hear you Joe, that plastic crap is fragile. Watch out for the PCV "T" fitting if you get to replacing it. Don't force a new steel PCV into it, it would have to be filed to be smaller first. Buy a new thermostat gasket too, I used mine again the first time, it worked fine. The second time it leaked. Regards,

I couldn't get the stoopid tee to separate, so I just left it there. I can twist it, but the hoses have hardened to the point that they won't stretch to slide over the hose barb. I just left them in place... no biggie.

The brass insert molded into the lower housing for the coolant temp sending unit gave way when I tried to remove it. I was trying to remove the sending unit to clear the socket I had to use to remove the tensioner. I had to use the socket instead of a wrench because McGilla Gorilla installed the tensioner 147,000 miles ago, and it took all my might on the breaker bar to crack it loose. No way in hell a crescent wrench would have done it!

In the process, I've discovered my serpentine tensioner is shot too... It's skewed to the side a bit. Seems everything I touch on this thing is fallin' apart!

I do understand. I installed all new parts on the front, and the new Ford power steering pump($150+) began making noise when I changed alternator pulleys. The new pulley was to speed up the alternator with the slower crank pulley. Unfortunately the alternator pulley located the belt out about 1/8" more, that hurt the power steering pump somehow. I removed that pulley to grind some off of the backside. That fixed the belt alignment, but there is still a little PS noise. I replaced the tensioner again because the new one from Advance had vibrated a little much for me since new. I've got it all right now except for the slight noise, it's annoying, it may be a bearing, but I don't know. For what it cost it should still be okay fro a long time.

BTW, do change the rear tensioner for that cam also. With the right inner fender out it is about a five minute job. That tensioner is less, about $25 or so I believe. Good luck,
