V-6 to V-8

I'm aware that some 99's came with V-8's..........mine has the V-6. I have a spare built HO 5O around, so........

Besides the obvious, exaust, mounts, ect. what else will be needed and will the stock tranny work and or hold up to a Warm 5.O

You are working backwards IMO by going to a HO engine, but that depends on what you use the truck for. Is it EFI? Was it built for a car?


the HO will need some modifications to fit in your 99 Sport, short front dress, explorer oil pan and pickup, exhaust manifolds, etc Then you need to choose a transmission, and a transfer case.

Or you can get a 99-2000 5.0L explorer donor and bolt the 5.0L GT-40 drivetrain into your truck and go.

You will also lose some functions of your truck, the GEM module and instruments all talk to the PCM, with the HO engine you lose some/all of this...
