i was just wondering if anyone else has tried that v-power gasoline from Shell. i just put a tank of it in yesterday but i havent driven it enough to really notice any difference. i'm wondering if it really does what it claims it does.

What exactly is it suppose to do? Only difference I noticed between fuels is mileage.

Damn, i can't find the link right now. But anyways, it's actually the most effective gasoline w/additives that cleans deposits in your engine. I had a link to an article done on 3 different cars, and all used the V-power for about 3 months. They used a fiberoptic camera to see inside the engine and did before-and-after comparisons. Not only did they notice the engines signifigantly cleaner, but on 1 or 2 of the cars, they actually ran better (smoother idle, etc). It was a great article, done by a non-affiliate of Shell. I was impressed, and use V-power when available.

I think it's just a marketing strategy. I keep hearing the commercials, but I don't think 10 cents more per gallon is worth it.

i no longer trust shell after there was an incident of contaminated shell gasoline in my area. i'm still not sure about all these additives that gasoline companies keep hyping. shell has v-power, unocal (76) has propower, chevron has techron, mobil and arco have something too but i can't remember right now. they all say they help remove engine deposits and keep your injectors clean and give overall better performance than the competition. they all charge you extra for it.

in the end, they are probably all the same.

You'll get the same results in 10 minutes by running a can of Seafoam through your intake.

or a bottle of Chevron Techron every 2 or 3 months.

Techron is the only one so far I have seen that actually works. And I'm not talking about the miniscule amount you get from the regular pump gas. Run the full bottle of it once every few months. It'll burn hot the first tank and mileage will drop, but then it will improve dramatically.

I actually got lower mileage on Shell. Take that for what it's worth. Shell gas sucks. Diamond Shamrock (People outside of Texas probably won't know them), BP/AMOCO, and Chevron are the only things I run.
