I was talking to a friend today about what i can do to improve the sound of the truck, 2 things immediatly poped up. High-Flow cats, and headers. This isnt in the near future, but someday, i was wondering though if there is headers sold for the v6 explorer?? If so can anyone give me a link to a web page??

Thanks :D

I put the kkm intake and a single in dual out dual chamber flowmaster muffler on mine. It cost me quite a bit to get a place to customize some dual pipes for me, but it sounds really good for a V6. I know that I have seen headers some where, but I can't think of where it was at.

I have Borla headers on my X. You can get headers from www.TruckPerformance.com - I wouldn't recommend headers unless you have a lot done (or forced induction). KKM, MAF, TB, Exhaust, High-flow cat, Apten, maybe cam. I made the mistake of getting this and didn't notice any difference in performance or sound. It's kinda funny when someone asks what you have done though, headers always start a discussion.

The best ones are JBA ceramic coated headers, get them or go home.

Headers don't really help out the 4.0 much unless:
1) your stockers are crap or
2) you have forced induction.

Same with cats.

uhh, yeah, the JBA's are great if you have 600 bucks to slap down. The best headers are the ones that you can afford. They all pretty much use the same tubing size. If you install them right and use the proper precautions, even the cheapest set will last as long as your truck.

Except the Pacesetters that literally desintegrate.

I got the hedmans...they were less than 200 shipped, and they've served me well...I'm happy with my el cheapos.

From his post,he seems to be in desire of sound more than power, Perpahs people could list their experience with sound change form a header install....I was unaware that headers changed your exhaust tone.

i got the dyno max cat back for 120 shipped and it sounds great.

My headers made the exhaust a bit deeper, but many report no sound change with headers.

If you're just looking for sound, play around with different mufflers. Headers definately isn't a mod just "because".

DGIBSON~~~ saw you are from VB...... where abouts?

Is JBA the only company making headers for the SOHC 4.0 Liter.

Oops i double posted sorry about that. I had to delete it.

Just off of Indian River Rd...near Military Hwy.

Sorry for the delay, i was at a friends place all weekend.

I was wondering about the headers because i may get a turbocharger or blower some day.

Don't get headers now if you're planning on a turbo, cause you'll need custom headers then.

However, if you're for sure planning on an s/c, headers will help out a lot.

ok

Could there be a Turbo made for the SOHC and how would i go about looking into that.

Research Klowns' project.
