V6 or V8 model?

The 02 and I think 03 V8 had an insulated engine cover, very similar to what the lincolns have. I believe this quiets the injectors and the valve train. Not sure how it compairs to the V6.

I think that cover looks very cool... with the V8 in chrome...

some trivia that I found out in search of one of these covers to put on my 04...

It was there to cover the throttle body and prevent someone from manually using the throttle....
In 04 - there is no throttle cable to push manually under the hood and hence ford did not continue with the engine cover.

The cover for 02 and early 03 is the same. In late 03 ford changed the location of the oil filler tube and therefore the cover has another "notch" cut in it.
The front bracket for the cover is held by the alternator bolts, the rear bracket is more involved with the thottle body...

From Ford these brackets were over $250 when I priced them. I have a 02 cover (I had to make a notch for the oil filler tube) and I planned to fab up the brackets myself but have not got around to it...Im waiting to find a junk yard 02 so I can get them from that.

I had the same issue with my 04 v8. I took it to a dealer, the service writer was kind to me and told me to clean the throttle body really well. After i did it, all hesitation was gone

I have this issue. I am wondering what you used to clean it. I have read somewere here that it not ok to clean it becose of some coading on the throttle body.

thanks: Björn

CRC makes a throttle body cleaner that you can get at most auto parts store. I used my finger to hold open the "butterfly" inside the throttle body sprayed cleaner all around then used a tooth brush to scrub it. Have a shop towel ready to wipe the diry cleaner out quickly, because the cleaner evaporates fast. Repeat it a couple of times. The first time you start up the truck it may misfire or smoke until the cleaner its burned off.
Good luck
