V6 to V8 Swap. Just need an answer.. PLEASE

Hello all,

new to the forum,

I've slowly been moding my 2003 explorer xlt as every car I tend to do with I've ever owned. Ive done a complete LED interior conversion, new tailights, HID headlights, HID fogs, Tailgate LED brake light, infinity sound system, including subs. Ive replaced the alternator with a high output from SUMMIT racing. Optima battery... etc. I primarily do highway driving. My question is.... this explorer is a v6.... I have a ton of things I want to do to the car... tvs, slight lift kit, rims, body kit, re upholstered interior... etc. It has 95000 on it, and I know the rep ford has with reliability( new tranny put in December) thank god the dealership paid. If I am going to invest about 6-10k into the truck, is it possible to put a v8 into the car if and when the engine craps the bed. I have done multiple searches but cant find an answer I am looking for. Please please please help me figure this out, I just want to go nuts with this truck but want to make sure its worth it first. Thanks so much guys!

Easy answer, sell it and buy one with a V8 in it! Mine has a V8!!!

Been there. Done that. Not worth the hassle. Just buy a V8 Explorer with the same model year and you'll end up saving money at the end.

Thanks for the info guys! Looks like I'll be sticking with the current mods I have now and drive it into the ground. Ill be picking up that new hemi durango at that time. Thanks again for the quick responses.

You mean that thing that is almost identical to a grand Cherokee but with a dodge logo slapped on it... LOL

yea, haha. I go back and forth. If I didnt have a family I would be picking up the srt challenger or charger. So until the little one is out of the house, Its gotta be an SUV, hell, you guys got any reccomendations for when the exploder does **** the bed?

i too have a little one thus the ex with the DVD system worth its weight in gold on road-trips... if i was in your situation i wouldn't be worried at looking at what else is out there until the x does die you never know how much life that thing has left in it...and whatll be out when that does happen.......
my vote is a 4 door raptor for next vehicle
btw if you really feel the 4.0 needs more power research a supercharger... theres a few people on here that have done it
