Let me try to explain Turdle's post.

What the heck are you talking about?

i just want to know how that troll guy did it with all those limitations runing 11.65 1/4 mile man that would be a dream come tru leaving those dam5.3 chevys behind even though i gave em a head start and havig a good long lasting motor

I think they mean your original post is not very understandable.
Maybe try retyping it with some sentence structure and punctuation.

<edit> too late, you kinda did already.

Troll spent 10 grand on that motor...it has very strong parts and it was built by a guy who built race motors for a living. That's JUST the motor, there was a lot more that went into the drivetrain and everything else to get that power to the ground reliably. That has a lot to do with why he was able to push it hard and have it hold up.

Reminds me of something a wise old man told me once:

Choose two of the below:

Cheap
Fast
Good

In other words, making a heavy truck go fast and stay reliable usually costs a lot of money.

thanks left me with questions that u already kinda answerd but hope fully u give it a try this is the my imaginery plan that im gona try and do in the future 347 stroker twin or most shurely a single turbo 88 mm or whatever its better could be smaller or bigger forged internals the best heads and cam possibleof course headers drivetrain everything you need to get it moving it wouldn't last me?the problem of what ive heard would be the block 400 to 500 hp would be aking too much so ive heard. saw i think on ford racing they where offering a made block 2000$ to handle just up to 700hp i know anyone would be more than happy with that but why can those supras and those little engines handle 1000 + hp thats just dumb. ive read they are ticking time bombs but they are still 1000+hp

I think Troll used an A4 Block. Probably billet crank and rods, and forged pistons. I believe he used Canfield heads, and some type of custom ground cam. For the intake I think it was a Victor, Jr. The key thing to remember is that he didn't just buy the motor as a crate or buy parts and have someone slap them together, he had a guy who really knew his stuff build it for him.

It sounds like for what you want, you need to either pick a Horsepower goal or a 1/4 mi goal, and build the motor/drivetrain with that in mind.

and at 1/4 mile per pass-it did not prove itself beyond the 4k mile mark you mention.

You do know the 5.0 block will crack around 550 HP no matter which internals you use. Right?

i said the 4k because in the vid i saw it looked like a walk in the park didnt know if he made it out of the track still runing. and the block i told you it was being advertised to handle up or over 700 hp it wasnt a stock block it was made but it was 302 block. i read some history on those 302 back n the day some made in mexico that where real strong the old blocks. if i knew how to put the websites in here i would. up until like a month or two i didnt know nothing i mean nothing turbos blowers 347 nothing started googlein and here i am

A general rule, take the CID of the engine and multiply by 1.8. This is about the level you can goto. Anything past this will cost a bunch of money and starts becoming a ticking time bomb.

If you want an engine to survive at 550 hp, the best thing to do is build it to handle 800 HP and tone it down. This is how people make engines last.

There are "special" 5.0 motors that were purpose built with super strong blocks and components. They'll handle 550 HP+ no problem. But they'd cost more than a house, if you could even get one.

The "hencho en Mexico" 302's with 300+ rated HP would likely handle a lot more, but they're more of a collector's item for Shelby affectionados these days than a base for a blown drag racer.

You can read up on the Windsor block if you're curious:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Windsor_engine

In terms of money though, it's a lot less expensive to shave weight rather than put a big motor in a heavy truck. If you like 'em that much, find a decent ~300HP 302, shove it in a tiny 1500lb body and it'll do quarter miles pretty fast if that's what you want.

the 5.0 explorer or mountie block is the best 302 block if you want 550hp in a stock block 302 there are two things that matter a good damper and a perfectly balanced rotating assembly billet girdles help allitle that power is made high in the revs turbo and blower 5.0s are the same just lower rpm for peak power if its built right it should last a long time with a good tune and proper maintenence
