I asked this question in another forum, but didn't get any response. There must be a way to get a set of low gears for a V8AWD. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Possibly an adapter and another make of transmission? Would this be the ideal trail truck or a waste of time?

I'm no expert, but I think it's closer to 'waste of time' than 'ideal trail truck'. I think it would be wiser to get a 4WD and drop in a V-8, than start with your V-8, and try to make a wheeler.

Interesting idea, though. Is there a transfer case that bolts directly to the tranny used with the stock 5.0? And if there is, can the drive shafts make it to their respective differentials without much trouble? It may be worth looking into. Of course, you'd probably have to fabricate a crossmember to mount the t-case to and have the drive shafts altered a bit, but I think it might be feasable. I wonder if anybody has tried this.
