I am working on a 99 Explorer Limited with the 4.0 SOHC. I am working on disconnecting everything so I can pull the engine, and I ran across a plastic tube that runs from each side of the upper intake, through a T, and down under the A/C Compressor and into a unit in the driver's side fender. There is a little plastic connector right under the compressor where the plastic tube transitions into a hose. What type of fitting is on there, and how is it removed? I see little tabs on the side, but pressing those in doesn't seem to release the connection. I have never seen those before, so not sure how to deal with em. Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like the EVAP. Just squeeze the tabs.

Yeah, it is the evap line from the manifold to the fuel vapor management valve. I have squeezed the tabs until I am blue in the face and even tried pliers, and it will not come out... Was curious if there was some trick but it sounds like no. I will maybe try removing the end attached to the valve itself and fish the whole thing out.

So with a little muscle and a little fenagling, I got the connection separated. I think it was just tougher to disconnect than I thought it should be and was in an awkward spot. Thanks for your help.
