Well, I finally got tired of listening to the ticking noise (4.0 OHV 147k miles), and pulled the left side valve cover and removed the rocker arm assembly. Four out of the six rockers pushrod sockets were worn clear into the oil channel, I would say about 3/16" or more. The other two were not so bad, but were worn on the valve stem pad. You can guess what the push rods looked like. So, $110.00, and about six hours later, not counting waiting for the parts, I have quieted the left side. Now when I get the money, I'll do the right side. But I do have peace of mind knowing what is going on. This just FYI based on my experience.
