Has anyone tried this as a remedy for oil consumption? What about a 91 with 195K that burns about 1 qt every 2-3 weeks? I just put Mobil1 10-30 syn in to try and clean the sludge out. Maybe 2-3 oil changes with syn. will solve but someone posted that MaxLife may help even more.

Synthetic makes those leaks even worse. I've been using MaxLife with no problems..I got a 95 EB with 124k on it.

I don't think maxlife will help a ring or valve leak problem.

Astro is right. Synthetics flow easier than conventional oils and can actually cause you to burn more oil. If you are using that much oil, not much will help, short of a rebuild. You could try a thicker oil to try and slow down the oil consumption. I'd try 10W40 first, if it doesn't help, you could try 20W50 but it would probably be too thick in the winter.

Maxlife helps

Maxlife stopped seepage from the passenger side of the engine in her '91 EB (188K) & it no longer emulates
a fogger upon startup.
It also stopped the seepage by the valve guides in an '88 P/U (295K). No more blue/grey puffs of smoke.
Both started showing noticable improvement after running it for a few weeks.
