I've been running Valvoline Maxlife for a few oil changes now...it's regarded as a great oil, and its extended OCI's yield awesome results (bobistheoilguy.com).
BUT, this is from an Amsoil site: "Why continue to shell out money for oils that do nothing special, have to be changed frequently, and cost you more? In fact, AMSOIL's XL line-up is great for higher mileage vroom vrooms which may have a higher degree of sludge and varnish, The XL Series contain slightly less detergents for vroom vrooms with more wear and carbon build-up. AMSOIL XL actually cost less than our main line. Give us a call and we'll help you decide wha''s best for your vroom vroom".
Why would you want LESS detergents in a high mileage engine? To keep the sludge intact so the seals don't leak? I would think you would want MORE detergents to remove and prevent deposits. Doesn't make sense to me. Any ideas? By the way, I think that Amsoil is the best oil money can buy.
