My Explorer was vandalized and will like to know if anybody knows if Ford has made an improvement in their security system since factory developed because seems that they know well ford systems.

What the thiefs did is that they pulled the drivers door handle and broked the lock cylinder (seems that this desactivated the alarm) then they broke the little rear window to open the back door and get inside the truck.

As you can see it is a simplify job of thiefs that know the system and my question is:

1.If Ford has developed a better handle or cylinder lock to avoid it to be pulled like a metal plate or something similar???

2. Which system you have experience that i can improve the factory alarm system to avoid if they pull it doesn't desactivate the system??

Thanks in advance...

Sorry to hear that but to be honest, is someone wants in, they will get in.

It is quite easy to get into just about any vehicle. A wedge into the front door, airbag pump to spread the door open, a coat hanger to hit the unlock button and there you go, you are in with no alarm.

Best alarms out there are motion sensor alarms. They can be tricky in regards to dialing them in for sensitivity but I had one (aftermarket) on my car, I could leave my windows open and as soon as your hand went past the door, it would set it off.

Granted, how many people look at cars with alarms going off anymore??

Thanks for the information... I will be looking for that feature tommorow... Will be looking at Viper to see what they have for the Explorer...

In the meantime i am replacing and probably eliminating the lock cylinder and placing a tap without the hole. My only risk which i am considerating is that if my battery gets out of charge i don't have a way to open the truck becuase it will be keyless.
