94 Explorer XLT 4WD when backing out with wheel turned left and then going forward truck pulls left. When the wheel is turned to the right as in making a 90 degree turn and then going straight the vehicle jumps a little right and then the steering is fine. this only happens when you back out with the wheels turned to left. my guess is universal joints are frozen or worn out. Has anyone found or had this same problem. plan on jacking up vehicle tommorrow and checking more thoroughly.

welcome, sounds like it might be the hubs, if you have autos that is.
could be u joints tho, but the auto hubs are notorious for failure.

Only reason I don't think it is Hubs is that they generally make an intermittent noise. Next thing I found out today is u-joints are available in 2 sizes. the cap or end can either be 1.0" diameter or 1.18" diameter. I think they are of the larger type since it has a Dana 35 axle. i wuld think the smaller one fits the 28 axle. anyone run into this problem?
