vent / blend door question

Hi, i have a 98 v8 eddie bauer. When i turn on the vent i get only hot air, when i turn on Max A/C while the engine is warm, the air only cools about half of what it should be. A/C was charged when i bought the truck 8 months ago. When i turn on Max A/C while the engine is cold, only about half the time it blows frigid like it should and stays cold while the engine gets to temp, but if i turn it off and turn it back on it will not return to the maximum coolness, it gets only about half way cool again.

During the winter months i noticed some snow flakes shooting up out of my defrost vent (only a few) and landing on my passenger side dash. Once in a while it does the same in the rain (with water). What the heck??

When i turn my truck off, i hear a sound coming from the glovebox area (thought it was the antenna at first?) but it sounds like the actuator motor or something?

I ran a diagnostic on my EATC and no codes came back...

Any ideas? Anything i should try to come up with what the problem could be? Im leaning towards the blend door, but just want to get your opinions and try anythign else before i try to tackle that job.

The truck only has 77k on it and runs great, just the A/C and vent problem is really bugging me especially with this heat we have been having lately.

Also does anyone know how many MPG an intake should add in the v8?? ive got mine ready to install, even if i get 1mpg more ill be happy. right now average 12-13 int he city (lighttt foot) 19 highway but have gotten 20.

I just did the cheep and easy blend door fix from the sticky at the top of the page. Worked like a charm and my 98 XLT was presenting the same symtoms. I live in a place where I don't switch back and forth from A/C to heat often so it will work just fine for me.
