I've read the thread on virbrations and had a few questions. My 91 has a vibration from about ~60mph on up. It doesn't seem to have the feel of tires. It's more like U joint or wheel bearings. Is this normal for the X? It's in the shop now and there saying they can't feel anything unusual. Is it the same as everyone is talking about?

Thanks
Keith

I had the same problem in 98 with my 93 X. I read a lot of stuff on trannies and u bolts and stuff but mine problem ended up being that my tires were out of balance. There are 100's of post on this topic, but I would spend the $20 to have your tires balanced and rotated, they probably need it any way:)

Vibration problem at 60mph is a "normal" thing in early Explorers. My 91 has the vibration at 97kph. I have checked all things: U joints, alignment , shocks...but all is OK... someone tell me about bad condition on rims....

I still have that "normal" thing !

Thanks for the replys. I think I have fixed mine but time will tell. It turned out to be a bad U joint. I was frozen up. I pulled the drive line to have it balanced and found it. It checked good in the X, not loose and no slack. Went ahead and dropped it off to be balanced and have a grease fitting installed for the slip joint. So I"ll know when it gets back.

Thanks
Keith
