Hello all...

I have a 2000 5.0L Eddie Bauer Explorer. In December of 2004, I had the Viper 791XV installed on it. Just the other week, I had a few accessories added. First off, I had the DEI 530T window module. Secondly, I had the DEI Dual Zone Proximity Sensor installed. Well, I've had a few problems and wanted to get any feedback that some of you out there might have.

First off, they had major problems with the DEI module. The install guys at Best Buy (first mistake) did not like it, and after trying to make it work with my Explorer, they accidentally fried the unit. They replaced it with what they said was a better unit, one made by a local company by the name of Omega. I know nothing about this company, so perhaps they are right. Well, only problem is this module only controls the windows in only one direction; however, it does control all four windows, whereas the DEI module controlled only two windows. Only difference is the DEI module controlled two windows in two ways. So that's the first problem. Secondly, whenever I press the window controls I can see the battery meter moving on the instrument panel. I have never seen that meter move as long as I've had my Explorer! The other day I let two windows up at the same time and suddenly the driver’s side window controls stopped working. I had to go in for them to fix that and they told me to only control one window at a time. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is for those of you who are familiar with the proximity sensor. It only beeps at you if you get close to the front drivers side or front passengers side door. It doesn't beep at you if you're at the front of the Explorer or the back. When it rains it drives it crazy and makes it give the warn away beep like crazy. They told me yesterday that there was nothing they could to fix it. Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Ask BB to take it out, get a refund, then go a real alarm place.

Ditto... It sounds like a hack job done at $6.50/hr to me...

Sometimes I hate paying for something that I can't do in my driveway, but it's easier than paying for something way more expensive later (like getting broken into and your alarm doesn't go off...)

try a differnet best buy. some stores are great (mine) others suck (like some in my district). the bay is only as good as the installers and some stores hire hack jobs same as most places. the lifetime warranty labor is good at any best buy nationwide as long as you have ALL the receipts.

sounds like the proximity sensor needs to be moved back closer to the center of the vehicle and re-adjusted
