I was in at 10,380 miles in my 2012 Ex Ltd to my dealer today for "The Works" service [oil change and tire rotation]. I complained again about the MFT system and was told they can not help me...they don't have the software, I have to wait for an SD Card in the mail.
I reported again the many issues I have had all along with my MFT and NAV System:
- System won't respond to voice button more than 40% of the time and never in first 5 minutes of driving
- Steering wheel buttons become unresponsive and can't change channels without reaching to screen
- Trying to input destinations with "Navigation...Destination...Street Address" often fails and then it gets stuck listening and will not respond to any button presses including large 'X' at top left
- May be 10% of the time that I start the Ex and put it in reverse I get a Black Screen instead of the backup camera and sensor
- Bluetooth Audio is unreliable and many times while the Android phone is paired, engaging BT Audio results in no audio...other times it works fine
The Service Manager came out to see me while I waited and shared the following:
- The dealer has only gotten 6 USB drives and SD Cards, not enough for their new cars on the lot and customer deliveries
- She offered they can do the software upgrade for me, but it will disable my Nav system and leave me with an error message on the screen (told her mine has just about been disabled for 10,000+ miles)
- She said the update requires idling the car for up to 50 minutes while the update is completed. She noted the parking brake must be set for this
- Apparently turning off the car part way through, even though the screen has gone black, can ruin the API or APM<?> module and they had that happen and it requires ordering a new one {presumably it's writing firmware and would corrupt the image I imagine}
I expressed my discontent that some people are getting the update *AND* an SD Card from their dealers, and that they can't help me. All I got was assurance that my mailer would arrive eventually in the mail.
(Edit)- I did just call the 800 number shown on SyncMyRide and they verified that my vehicle does get the mailer with USB and SD Card and they verified my mailing info and email address and added my phone number which they apparently did not have in my record.

- times that this happens are usually followed by a complete freeze up and then a reboot that shows the Microsoft logo and says it is "Completing Scheduled Maintenance"
