So just got a volant cold air intake (i bought a K&n one a while ago but returned it) but again im getting p0171 and p0174 codes with this cai. I have heard that sometimes your truck may need to be tuned in order for the code to clear so the fuel/air ratio can even out i guess? but i was also wondering if i could use my stock tubing with the volant air box as well or would that mess up the "performance" gains from the cai as a whole. Thanks.

I've already done all that but for some reason my truck just doesn't like aftermarket intakes. I don't get any codes when my stock intake is in. I had this problem with my k&n so I returned it and now one year later it's the same problem with a different cai. I figured I'd buy the cai because I plan on buying an sct tuner once tax returns come by but I just can't figure out why my truck doesn't like cai's? Lol is it possible for the light to shut off after driving it for a while just so the computer can get used to it? I disconnected my battery before the install

Found your previous post regarding the same problem with the K&N open intake. Obviously the lean issue only occurs with aftermarket intakes, not stock. Long shot, but have you tested for vacuum leaks by spraying unlit propane or starter fluid around the intake manifold area to see if the idle changes? Failed intake gasket symptom is usually cold engine idle issues.

Return the Volant and apply towards an XCal3 tuner from Henson or Torrie. Best $379 you will EVER spend, IMO.

Yes it was a pita to install! But yes that sounds like a great idea to me also lol I might just try throwing my stock tubing with the volant filter/box just to see if the problem persists and that way i know there is no leaks in the intake. Thanks for the input though!
