I received my Volant air intake today. I plan on installing it tomorrow evening. Anything special I should know for the install? I've installed a few air intakes and it seems like every one is different.

A few guys have put the volant in their SOHC already, I think if you do a search you will find a writeup of someones install.
I know when I put a volant on my OHV it was a pain in the ass. Hopefully you will have better luck! :)

Thanks, Jim. I did a search and found a few posts, but no detailed instructions. It looks like several people had the same complaints I do about the lack of instructions....all you get is an exploded view drawing. Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Robz98EB, did you put that Volant system on?

i am planning on putting the same system on my X, any sugestion from your install experience?

could you also post some pics of the volant?

Volant makes a great setup. It's a tight fit which can create a bit of grief, but if you're a decent mechanic, you'll figure it out. I'm a mental midget with a wrench and I got mine in (took me longer than it should have). ;)

To that guy who's all wound up about which setup to buy, they ALL perform the same. It all depends on cosmetics and your budget. K&N and Volant are pricey but you won't see a performance difference by spending the extra. Mac intakes are probably the best buy.

I haven't had time to do the install, yet. I still need to get a grommet for my air temp sensor. I'm going to call the tech line today and give them some grief for not providing all the necessar pieces for my '98. Considering this is the most expensive system out there, it should be complete. I probably won't get a chance to do the install until Sunday.

The guy who sold me my Volant told me about the '98 anomaly. Just hit a hardware store. You'll probably find the grommet there for less than a buck. Don't forget to drill the hole for the sensor too.

I called the Volant Tech Support yesterday. They are sending me a grommet. They also apologized for the lack of instructions, which they said they are working on.

LOL, yeah they told me they were working on instructions too.....that was last year.

I told them to check out the K&N site. They have good instructions there. :)

Someone should write install instructions send it to them and ask "why is it so hard to write instructions". :D
