I ordered my new explorer on 5/13/11. The color I ordered is black.
I called ford customer service on Fri. to check the status. She reviewed
my order and said that because of the problems in Japan, Ford is trying
to match the original black and build up stock. She has no idea how
long it will take, it could be towards the end of the year. Should I change
color? It could be towards the end of the year. Does anyone have any
details or better info. on this problem?

I think only you can decide if you should change the color. Will you stick with the original interior color or will you want to change that as well? If that is what you wish to do, check and make sure that it can still be done. If you are willing to wait until the end of the year then perhaps you should investigate whether they will let you order a 2012 instead.
BTW, welcome aboard. :wavey:

Jfise, welcome to the forum! Like peterk9 said, it’s up to you whether you want to change it or not. If you’d like for me to research your order, please feel free to PM me your VIN or dealer name / dealer code!

I think the fine lines and details of the car get lost with the black paint. I would change the color.

There's no other color than Black!
