Want to Swap Engines...

So, I have the '97 Ex. XLT 4x4. I want to put the biggest engine in it I can that will fit the same mounts. If not the same mounts then, with as little modifying the bay as possible. I was hoping for a 5.0L or something that large....

uhh remember 5.0's were an option in the 2nd gens so as far as mounts are concerned they would be stock off the shelf pieces as well as everything else needed to swap it in

To do a 5.0 swap you will also have to change the transmission, transfer case, computer, and other miscellaneous things. The 5.0 will have to come from an Explorer or Mountaineer. Mustangs have totally different water pump, and timing chain cover. The oil pan is also unique on the Explorer.
