I have a 98 Explorer XLT. The front wiper and rear wiper and washer worked fine but the front washer doesn't. I can unplug the pump and apply hot and ground to the motor and it pumps fine. The owners manual doesn't show what relay or fuse is for the washer pump. I've pulled the relays under the hood and jumped from the hot terminal to the load terminal but none will run the pump. Any ideas? Thanks, Keith

The pump reverses direction for the front and rear, so you could have an issue with the pump itself not being able to run in one direction...

Maybe THIS thread can help?

washer pump

Thanks for the link. I never would have found the relays without it. It did turn out to be a bad relay. Now that I know the pump runs in 2 directions, it makes sense that it would be a relay. The pump motor is a permanent magnet type and runs in a different direction by switching the polarity. If it runs one way, it will run the other way also. So if one washer works but the other one doesn't it's unlikely to be the motor. Thanks, Keith

Awesome... Glad you got 'er fixed!
