Well yesterday, me, my buddy and my ranger sat in 3ft of clay/mud/swap for 3hrs. until my buddy finally got there with this 01 f250 4x4 7.3 lifted 37's to tug me out. After i go out, "damn that was a blast" from my buddy, this was the first time i have ever went though that deep of mud, it was up the bumper on my ranger and my ranger aint little,

i need to know what i should do to my ranger to get it ready for water and mud? im in the process of making a snorkle, i kno there are breathers should i extend them? and which ones? is there anything i can do to the d35 to make it more water/mud friendly

3 hrs, I'd be checking all fluids that had a breather below that mud. Yes extend the breathers. I would think those small diameter ones that you see at auto stores would work. I would also clean your brakes.

Check your altunrator, spray it out with electric parts cleaner. You should clean you starter. Once again check and replace trans, transfer case and differentials fluids. You should repack you front bearings. I would also powerwash the bottom and radiator.

If you do not have a snorkel, if you pull the air filter breather tube from the box, then you can ford deeper water without sucking water into the intake.

how can i keep the water out of my trans and diffs?

would it be a smart idea to make a sheild for the starter to protect it from mud? also the alternator?

Just to add... The best way to keep most of your electronics safe from water is using dielectric grease on all electrical connections including spark plugs and coil packs.

lets hear it for co workers mesin with my acount when i leave myself logged in

i can end the thread hijack now....

That's what the seals are for. We allready talked about extending the breathers. I have no idea about building a shield. Plus that alternator has to draw in air to keep the windings cool.

You can do the temporay sheilds with a 2-liter coke bottle. They are really for things like a mud bogg and not for long term use.
