Hey guys, my family and I jsut went to Boston and back on sunday (for the red sox/yankees game, go sox!) and my X was running fine. The next morning when my Dad moved it, it sounded like the water pump was going, that metal rubbing sound in the engine, just wondering if there would be anything else that could be. The X still runs fine except for the sound so far, but it is not being driven. It is going into the shop tomorrow. anyone know the price of a water pump, or if it is difficult to do yourself in the X engine bay?
Any water pump info welcome! :)

Check the belt tensioner

Don't know about the V8 but in the six these can angle out and hit the fan when they start to wear. Just had to replace mine on my 97. Also the idler pulleys were bone dry and rattled a little. Never heard of the water pumps making noise. The last six pumps I've replaced just started leaking and the bearings felt great.
