Hey everyone, whenever i wash my car, either i drive it home to dry it, or dry it at the place. But in each case i will get these annoying water spots that look like crap. They stand out a lot especially because i have a black car. IS there any way to get rid of these spots? what methods have you guys tried? Thanx

Thats the nature of the beast. One way to do so is to wash your vehicle only with purified water, there are hose attatchments on the market that will filter hose water and do a pretty good job. Meguiars Qwik Detailer will remove them quickly also.

Eagle One spray on wax does the job just fine too.

Good suggestions, but does anyone out there have names/part numbers for filtering devices to place on water hose to help eliminate those PITA water spots. I have the same problem with water spots and I have not found a good source for filtering devices. Thanks, Johnny

Jay,
After drying the car I would try waxing. Usually it gets rid of any water spots, except for a few I have in my hood that are like etched in there.

Try washing the truck inside the garage and out of the sun, You have a better chance of getting all the water off before it has a chance to dry into spots. We have a Black Gran Marquis, and that is the ONLY way we can wash it.

Rubbing with a damp Chamois will also help remove the spots.

I was just thinking what sick puppies we are, drying our cars with animal skins. LOL

I use one of those "sponge chamois", it looks like cow hide, but it's a spongy like material. It holds a lot more H2O than a chamois.

For water spots I just dry with the spongy chamois, and the if any spots show up I buff 'em out using the still damp sponge chamois. Keeping a good coat of wax/polish/detailer will help.

For the windows use a VERY fine cut steel wool, then apply a product like Rain-X to keep the spots off!

Hope this helps!!!!!!!!

Ditto, except I wash it in the shade then back it into the garage to dry then wax when I need to. About the chamois, I use synthetic chamois, not the real ones. I guess I'm an animal lover and didn't know it until now. Hehe.

BTW: Real cowhide chamois actually take off the wax layer. Thats why I would use synthetic ones.
