When i dumped my stock stereo i cut off the front of it so now when i put my new faceplate in i replace it with the stock faceplate i cut off, it doesnt look right and its not very well planned out but it puts me at ease a lil...

How are locks defeated? I heard it breaks their wrench if they do that, so maybe if i went with 2 sets of locks? what do u think?

I had a set on my wheels for a while. Then lost my key. So a couple of friends hammered a socket on (you can use a screwdriver to pop the ring off that surrounds the lugnut) and they took the front two off... The next day (we started late and they couldn't get the back off), I hammered a socket on those and got 'em off... They actually went easy with a breaker bar.. And the socket? Craftsman... so if I wanted to, free replacement... Though I can still use it (minor damage to it)...

hmm i wonder if i should just get all of my lugs locking lugs. hehe that should deter them. i would be soooooooo mad if i got my rims stolen. any other versioons of lockable lugs that may be better than the regular ones?

Don't know which would be better, all I can say is, don't lose your key if you get them all the puzzle kind (lock lugs).... That'll piss you off a good one...

This whole stereo thievery thing really gets my blood boiling. There really is very little you can do to stop a good thief. I had an 87 Mustang Gt when I was in college. If had a good alarm with a jolt sensor, a mic for sound of breaking glass, a horn under the hood with it's own built in battery (the damn thing would keep going off if you tore it from the vehicle and threw it on the ground!), I had a pager, a backup battery for the alarm, another horn under the dash mounted right over the alarm brain, a totally stealth system with factory stereo faceplate in dash...and STILL my car was stolen three times. There is no stopping them. I eventually just pared my system down to an acceptable compromise between cost and sound. The problem with making things hard to remove from you vehicle is two-fold. One they may just take the whole vehicle and strip it good somewhere else. And two, they may just beat the s**t out of your vehicle and system in frustration. It really is a war you can't win because they don't care about your car and you can't watch it all the time.
All this pissing and moaning aside, when you install a pager DON"T use the car's antennae as the pager's. Everytime my car was stolen they snapped off the antennae. The first two times I didn't have the pager so I couldn't understand why but when I installed the pager I realized it was just a pre-emptive strike just in case there was a pager. Only other advice , keep it hidden. Good Luck!

ok, get yourself a good alarm from DEI...I recommend a clifford intelligaurd series, probably the 8000. this sets you up wih some pretty hardcore things already, proximity zone motion sensor, tilt sensor, and all the little tid bits that everyone likes. To add on get yourself a second siren with a backup battery, this way when the schmuch cuts your batter cable he is screwed because the backup siren is triggered and he now has another siren to locate and deal with...which he probably wont do, he will run. For even more protecton add a third siren inside your car, make it a loud one 130+ dB's. I have a clifford, its ated at 140 dB's...wouldnt want to actually be in the car when it goes off. Also, put a magnetic sensor on everything that could easily be stolen..amps, box, crossovers etc. And for the ultimate inprotection...get the system that the cops use...I dont know what its called but you could do some research...once the burglar breaks nto your car and somehow triggers your syste by either settingoff the alarm with te magnetic sensors or the proximity sensors or by hot wiring your car, the doors lock, the ignition disables itself, the alarm goes off, and the windows wont roll down...basically the dude is screwed, this is where you come into play with a nice bat or in my preference a nice 9 iron...and then give the guy a swift hit to the face...garaunteed he, nor any of his punk friends will break into your car again. Good luck!

I currently have a clifford alarm, i cant remember exactly the model of it tho. What i want to do is get 2 more sirens, a proximety sensor, and some other stuff, how much do u think it would cost to add that stuff on?

Slick..the in car siren is $75 plus install, siren with backup battery is $125 plus install, proximity sensor is also about $125 plus install...go somewhere highly respecte to have your alarms done...if you are in the Seattle area and want some serious hook ups on an car audio/mobile video equipment..including alarms...let me know...my e-mail is boarderlynch7319@hotmail.com...I am pretty good friends with a guy by the name of Kevin at Innovative Audio...this company is world renowned...check em out Innovativeaudio.com they are the best of the best, so if you need anything at all lt me know or drop by or send kevin an email and tell him that you are good friends with Brock Lynch...my last friends recieve a $2000 preferred customer discount...ad its worth it

I wouldn't want them trapped in the car because then they're gunna be breaking things trying to get out. I always liked laseing the inner part of the door handle with wire that was routed to a high output battery, and hot when the alarm was set. It's good shocker if they aren't wearing gloves.

Its a ungo alarm(a sub company of clarion). Its basically just like a viper alarm according to the guy(they're the tri county dealer for viper so I don't think he was bsing me on that part). Mine was 535($500 + tax) and that was the alarm + installation + backup battery. Plus my alarm has its own antenna but its mounted behind the rear view mirror(kind of obvious), but it still is better than using the X's antenna(I've actually had my antenna stolen and then returned to me so I'm glad my alarm doesn't use the suv's antenna).

Also about the shocking deterant device. I remember back a few years ago about a robber winning a lawsuit for being injured while trying to break into someone's house. So that would be a nice idea but in today's society that is gonna spell financial trouble for you.

He he, hear the one about the guy glueing razor blades to the back of his cassette deck? Don`t know if it happened, but he apparently went out one morning to find his ashtray out and a whole lot of blood in the car! YEAH!!

I`m so worried about these theives I`m afraid to replace my stock deck:( let alone put subs in. I just know that that is when I`ll get a break in. I had a car with a racing steering wheel once, only real mod in there and I went out to the car ready for a night out and the wheel was gone. I`d like to have a bloody electric chair in there if I could!

dont put flashy rims on your car and lower it people will think you have a system and then steel it. If you have a big lifted explorer with a gunrack most black people who might steal the system out of a lowered "ride" on "dubs" will stay away cuase they think it is some crazy redneck. This is comming from one of my black freinds with a mountaineer. I have over $5000 of audio crap in my car and it has never been broken into.

hahhaa... im sold i want one... hell that would be cool to show off while crusing =)

Hey lynch i actually live in AZ, what kind of hookup can you get? i just found that i have a clifford concept 100 security system right now. i'd want 2 more sirens, maybe a backup battery, and a proximety sensor. also is there a way to wire your alarm so when its going off my underbodys could flash? it seems like that would draw a lot of attention to the car also. or do u think that would just make them break the lights or steal them or somthin?>

Ha! Too bad the real world doesn't work like that. That is just a stereotype u got going there. If you have a 5 grand system, someone will notice. Black, white, whatever. Yes doing external mods will get people to look at your car more(that is the point of doing them). Just because u have a gun rack doesn't mean that is going to deter me from stealing your stuff(not that I would ;) ).

slick...I am going to Innovative this weekend and I will get some exact prices for you...and I will tell Kevin whats up and have him see what kind of discounts he can give you...since you aren buying anything huge it won be an amazing discont but it will be better than retail price thats for sure...as far as payment options go you can send him a cashiers check or something or I can even get you the phone numbr and you could probably pay with a credit card over the phone. Anyways,I will get back to you on sunday evening or monday afternoon. We will work something out. Oh, and yes you can makethe streetglows go off,I dont recomend it though, your better off putting a flashing LED that is easily seen from anywhere outside the car, i.e. front door pilars, rear window pillars, there are several places to put them,if you want I can get some magnetic sensors as well. I have one on all my doors and my rear hatch and they are hooked up to a different module so if the burgla does manage to cut off my first alarm, and then he opens my doors it trips the backup alarm, its a net set up.
