Just wondering if someone can explain to me what exactly happened.
I disconnected the battery (neg terminal) then removed my MAS for cleaning. After MAS was re-installed/re-connected and rest of the 10 mins expired, the battery was re-connected then I went to start it. All I got was a click then nothing. Thought I had blown a fuse so I checked all pertinent ones but all wre good. Battery had good voltage, so did the starter solenoid. After a couple minutes a relay began clicking in the cargo area by the rear washer bottle and the LED's I have connected to power would flash in sequence with the relay click. There were no interior lights, no radio, no "click" when ignition turned and once in a while I would get an extremely faint/sick single door chime (driver's door was open the whole time). Double checked connections at battery, vigorously wiggled the battery cables but no difference. Finally on a whim I disconnected the battery again (relay was driving me nuts), let it sit for a few minutes then reconnected and it started fine. While I let it idle to re-learn the new air/fuel ratio, the charge light illuminated, check and was getting 14.5V across the battery. After a while it went away, then volt meter guage in truck would flip between halfway and 12V. Took it for a spin, everything works fine, voltmeter settled down.

I'm guessing the charge light and funky guage were a product of the battery reconnection and the relay clicking problem was a glitch from the EEC and just needed to be reset again.

If you're still reading this, can you explain to me what was going on?

Remember GODZILLA? He was disturbed and then he wreaked havock on the world. You disturbed the wires and now you have a bad electrical connection somewhere. Could be minus to the car body or the smaller wire from the + to the distribution box. IT IS NOT BECAUSE THE COMPUTER GOT RESET FUNNY. This will rear its ugly head again and leave you stranded.

I'm with OH on checkin the + wire. Had a problem with that little sucker shuttin' the entire truck down. I pushed it aside tryng to locate my problem till my buddy walked up and asked " what's this little wire all corroded and sh*t". duhh.. maybe I should clean that up and put a new connector on it. Bam.. all was good.

You have to really clean up the terminals you took off the battery...Thats your entire problem right there...Trust me.

Make sure the voltage at the center of the battery post is the EXACT same as the connector ON it....

Cool, thanks guys. I am planning on replacing both battery cables soon since they are the originals and most likely corroded inside. The weird behaviour just had me wondering.

Go to any auto parts store and get one of those wire brush cleaning tools made specifically for car batteries. They only cost a couple bux and gee, they really work well.

Already have a post cleaner, it'll be disconnected again on Tuesday for stereo upgrade stuff, will get them then.
