Hey All, I've searched but have not found my answer. I know that a 220V welder is the best way to go but I don't believe I have that in my garage. So i'm wondering what is the best 120V welder I can use that would be good enough to use to make my front grill.
Is this one good enough?

what are you welding? a grill or a grillguard? i think i saw you post somewhere about wanting to make your own grilleguard

Yeah. I want to make a simple prerunner grill gaurd/Bumper.

grille guard maybe.... but strong enoughth for a bumper, highly doubtful

I think the lincoln weld pack's are good welders but dont count on welding over 3/16 material unless you are really good at prep and multi pass work, most dryers are 220 volt and i have seen some people run a good quality extension cord off a dryer plug to there welder. If you go with a 110 volt welder you will need a 20amp breaker or some one standing next to the box flicking the breaker back on every 3" of weld (speaking from experiance). I think a 110 welder is a good investment for the handy man and when it comes to building a bumper you can cut fit and tack it in place but please take it to a pro and have them weld it up good and solid or it could fall off going down the road at 70mph (i have seen this happen) and some one could get hurt. welding is fun i hope you enjoy playing with your new toy and remember to buy a good helmet. just my .02

Just wondering but why could u not completley weld with a 110V. Now i'm thinking of a 220V. MY motto is if you are going to do something then do it right. What is a good 220V welder and around what price should i spend for one? What should i look for in a good welder?

How about this one?

A welder is like any other tool. You usually get what you pay for. So don't skimp out.

I started with a 110v Lincoln. It's pretty good for sheetmetal and exhaust work. Other than that isn't not too impressive.

The question is how often are you going to be using a welder? I use mine quite often and will be using it more. So a 220v machine with a decent amperage is what I needed.

I went with a Miller Millermatic 185. It can do up to 3/8" steel in a single pass. It's a MIG welder. I tapped into my dryer box and ran the wire to the garage. I just can't weld and dry clothes at the same time. :D

So look at how often you plan on welding and what you will be using it for. If you don't plan on using one much, then a 110v might be the way to go. Then do what HotWheels suggested and tack it and take it to a welding shop and have them weld everything for you.

www.weldingmart.com has good deals. I have a miller mig welder and a combination tig stick lincoln. Miller or Lincoln either is a good machine. If you plan to do a lot of welding it would be worth gettin a 220 outlet hooked up in your garage, it's not very expensive if you do it yourself.
