Is this possible? They have become very dull and frosty looking. I want them to look new again. If possible, what grit paper do I need? 500? 1000?

My dad has done it before on some.
He used 2000 grit and then buffed it out. Not sure if one kind is different then others and I'm not sure what he did. You can always try just a little spot and if it doesn't work you aren't out much if the ones you have now don't look good anyway.

one of my friends was gonna do that on his 92 mustang but before he got a chance he sold the car. i remember he got all the info to do it from mustang sites. try either corral.net or stangnet.net or stangnet.com (i cant remember the extension for the stangnet site.) hope this helps.

I just wax them and they look brand new. It took a few applications but it works...

Or you can use a _mild_ rubbing compound on them..

The only one that is cloudy on mine is the 3rd brake light lens on the rear. I guess all the sun exposure has faded it out. Last summer I used Zaino Z-5 on it and it looked good but now it is back to the way it used to be...so this time I will Z-5 it again. If that doesn't prove to be a permanent solution then I will consider wet sanding etc.

hmmm. I too have been contemplating what to do regarding this predicament...

Try 3M Plastic Cleaner and 3M Plastic Polish. The cleaner will remove the hazing and the polish will restore and protect the plastic. Worked great for me.

before you try this guys, call your local bone yard and see if you can get a replacement..If not, get a VERY FINE glass or plastic polish, call around to your local glass repair shops and ask them what they would use.Good Luck

Took out all my lights and just buffed them w/mini buffer just last week. It took out all fine scratches. As I preper for an auto body shop I assure you that you can lighty go over them with at least 2000 and alot of water, clean them off, then go over them with a fine compound or any other glaze. Them put a couple coats of wax on them, and the water will bead on them and they will look like new. It's best if you take them out. while your at it do the tails and put new bulbs in all. Makes all the difference.
