i hope to get a darker blue out of it. but i assume it will be very similar. if you see aldives post a few posts back he got his from the same company but his was red. did you do this yourself?

...You know JTSmith could powder coat your new alt for you..;)

..I was lucky enough to find one for about 25% the cost...When it's time to get rebuilt it will cost $120 for a complete rebuild...They do wear out quicker as they spin faster to keep the high amperage at idle...:)

ive heard about him yes but it was probably more time-efficient to do it this way and its already "en route" but i hear there shipping is sluggish..but this gives me time to continue cleanin up the bay and re-wire the charging system. so as i see it its alright.

and if it STILl doesnt come! i can always start plumbing my new highflow-cat-equipped exhaust!

These alternators should be designed to make plenty of power at normal idle, with the stock pulley. The ratings are typically about 750rpm, the only need for an overdrive pulley is if you have tons of idle loads, or an underdrive crank pulley. Regards,

...Tons of Idle Loads,hmmm......When offroading at night = Rock lights, Stereo, Air Compressor for locker, Heater or A/C, plus the usual running lights and etc...

A lot of people come here from old experiences with past generations of alternators. Just the early 90's alternators are poor for anything past stock use. The old 86-95 Mustang alternators couldn't make enough juice at idle with underdrive pulleys. I have a 91 Mark VII that comes with a big stock 100 amp alternator, underdrive pulleys(302 HO). It doesn't make 12 volts at idle with the AC on.

These later 90's Ford alternators are wonderful compared to the older Ford units. The magic is to have at least a 3G alternator for heavy duty use. There are conversion kits for older Fords. The aftermarket units for the OHV 4.0 engines are much better than the stock 91+ Ford units. For a stock 91-94 truck, any stock late 90's OHV alternator is an upgrade. Regards,

greeeaatt..well today they informed me that i cant get the terminals made the way i had hoped.. so i had to turn to an audio store down the road. they carry these awesome rockford-fosgate terminals that have 2 outputs for up to 0 guage and 2 up to 8 guage. these will work wonderfully! downside? they are 35 bux a pop! i am going to look for some cheaper terminals similar to this one online and hope to get better luck, otherwise i am stuck.. but they WILL be very nice and clean for installation so i may just bite the bullet.

stay tuned, tomorrow is another day

I have a pair of those.

Never used em.

Just go to a marine supply store and purchase the fittings and install yourself.

That's how I do it.

sry it took so long (holiday)

seth! i wish i'd talked to you befor hand than!.. any chance you'd wunna sell one of em ? as far as updates go the alternator arrived and is installed. however the way i was going to wire it casued some problems. i was goin to run a wire from the alt. to the positive but that decided to heatup real bad. so i am simply cuttin out the old wire that ran from the alt to the solenoid and replacing it with a new 4 gauge one. i hav o wait till monday to get a nother wire made up from the store i got everythign else from, but i hav taken plenty of pics and this install will certainly turn out very well.

since i hav had some spare time i went ahead and painted my motor top cover and the bolts for that as well as the alt. bolts. and alt. bracket. and been able to steam clean a good amount of my engine bay. pics to come, but i gotta wait now for a dang wire on monday.

stay tuned
