What?

Yes, there is an HID conversion kit for every bulb out there, you just need to get the bulb, and the color. Someone said they were costly, I have eBay brands in my headlights & foglights and paid no more than $250 all together.

I paid 125 for the HID's in my Jeep a few years ago and 70 for the ones in my Explorer back in May.

HID kits are not that expensive anymore. I just bought a kit last week for my wife's '06 X and it was $168. Compared to a few sets of $80 halogens, that I needed to replace every three months, plus a new wiring harness for $49, plus the need to replace melted sockets every few months, the HIDs are a bargain.

With regard to the aiming issue, I find that virtually ALL SUVs have the lights factory-adjusted TOO HIGH. It may be nice to have the low beams shine 700' down the road, but it's useless, and with the brighter bulbs, you'll need to angle them down a bit to prevent glare to oncoming drivers. I did this with my '98 X and no complaints. OTOH, our new SUV with factory headlamps gets flashed a lot, due to the fact that the low beams tend to shine into oncoming drivers' eyes, as well as into the cab of the car in front of us. I have noticed this improper adjustment on the Fords and a friend's Kia Sportage that I drove on a trip a while back.

When you install the HIDs, adjust both lamp assemblies so the beam is slightly lower in angle than with the factory lights. This helps a lot when the road is not perfectly level or when you're coming about a right bend in the road.
