What would I need to make my own body lift?

Thanks,
Mike

why? just spend the 100$ and do it right...

I figured i could make it any height i wanted if i made it my self... I'm only looking for an inch or two.

Bolts, some solid rod stock cut to length with a bolt hole, and some time.

That's what i'd use at least :)

Well, they make a two inch body lift. If you want lower....cut the two inch lift in half. Done

slravene has apoint. just get away from the headache and hassle and buy the 2" bl. it as everything you need and is sturdy.

I saw someone use hockey pucks I think it was on this site. maybe its around here somewhere. I think the driver was a member.

HAHAHA

I have one of those, but for some reason they keep getting returned

I'm 17, and lost my job so...

For starters, find another job

a checkbook at 17? They sure are growing up fast these days

Seriously, Everything in this world worth having is worth working for. Find you another little job, save up $150 and get a Performance Accessories 883, then build your own bumper mounts. There is a template on this site in a couple of places for how to make them.

By the time you buy all of the grade 8 bolts, nuts, washers and rubber spacers, you may as well spend the 150. Or you could post that you are looking for a used BL in the wanted to buy section. Some people get rid of them for one reason or another

You're most likely thinking of Gerald. I think he's GJarret. But you're better off buying one.

I would not consider hockey pucks. They will split ;)

Yep I used hockey pucks to make a $15 body lift. You will also note that I only kept them on for less than a year. They're made of rubber, and every time it rained, my Ex squeaked like a screaming banshee for the next week, LOL. I'm sure that if I had kept it, I would have had to replace the pucks every couple of years as the rubber deteriorated. And I gotta tell ya, reinstalling a body lift on your Explorer every year or two will get old real quick. I'd rather just do it once and then forget it. Which is what I ended up doing after I got tired of the loud squeaking.

If you're determined to be a DIY'er then at least pick a substance that won't squeak and deteriorate... my advice (as one who has done it) is to follow the advice of others on this thread and save yourself the hassle and just simply buy a 2" Performance Accessories lift to start with. If you can't afford the $70 or whatever it is a 2" body lift costs nowadays, then you don't have any business modifying your Explorer in the first place.

I had a job at 14 and a Roth IRA at 16, i have five digits worth of money in it already, and yes it is ALL MY MONEY, now my dad told me to do it but i am glad i did, tax free income when ever i get to retire.

As to the question on this thread just buy one, not worth the trouble of making one. And after you buy one save your money and open a Roth IRA, you will thank me if you do.

I pumped gas for a month but it was too many hours to balance with school, so i got a job as a clerk at town hall for $9 hr. New mayor=new budget=me jobless. You would be amazed how much a kid can make mowing lawns and shoveling drive ways though.

at least you did not get fired, if you get fired from a job at the age of 17 that is just sad, no 17 year old should get fired. unless it is something like a new mayor coming into power

lol ya. Whats going towards my mod cause is me using the stock market and what not. Its risky as hell but mutual funds and the warehouse stores do ya good. It takes away from my time of studying sometimes but my grades are good enough for the old man not to raise the phone and say, oh you tard. I worked at Wack Arnolds too in the summer(mcdonalds)....that was fun.
