I own an 04 V8 Explorer and an 03 6.0 Powerstroke Crewcab ( both of them stock ) and they both feel powerful but very different. Seeing that I can't drive them both at the same time, which of them would beat the other in a 1/4 mile drag?

they are both slow as ****, so who cares

If you really want to make the 6.0 fast......

If you really want to make the 6.0 fast add a bully dog programmer. My dad did that on his '04 6.0 crew cab( w/ 4" lift and 35s) along with magnaflow 4" exhaust and k&n intake.Let me tell you, that truck will move! For the size of that thing you would never expect it to move that quick.

I CARE or I wouldn't have asked the question.

Constructive criticism please?

Anyways, the 6.0L PowerStroke has more potential because of the turbo. It is soo easy (minutes) to add 15%-20% more torque to that engine. However, the 6.0L in general has been having problems (compared the 7.3L which had a longer history even before it was called a "PowerStroke" by Ford) so I would be a bit careful pushing the 6.0L.

I'd say the Explorer cause of the Power to Weight.
But dont forget that diesels have a higher compression ratio (probably twice that of a gasoline engine) so the design has a tremendous amount of torque off the bat.

as stated all ready, the creator of this thread

and just about any explorer owner ON this forum.

this is explorer forum after all.

the ex....power to weight ratio

My truck has stayed stock for one reason, reliability! There is a huge potential for power from any diesel truck with chips, programmers, and etc. The only problem is that it seems like thats when you start having trouble with head gaskets on the 6.0's. I pull a camper with mine and it has all the power that I need right now. Without actually drag racing I have always been curios as to which is faster?

I would guess

1/8 - F250
1/4 - F250 but close
1/2 - Explorer
1 mi - what F250

imo the 1/4 would be a toss up, it would all depend on launch.
