I have a 01 Sport Trac and recently put on a set of Goodyear MT/Rs----I have had it back 3 times for vibrations and they have replaced 3 different tires (these guys are really trying to help at least) Last time I was there they kind of gave me the impression that MTRs are great off road tires, but a lot of guys don't use them for everyday tires. They also pointed out that the bigger tires (35") are hard to get balanced & every little problem is amplified (compared to a smaller tire) They also showed me that even after only a couple hundred miles that they were bowed out in the middles (due to my 8 inch rim & 35psi) They aired them down to 25.
I'm tired of messing with all this tire stuff so here is my thought (I'd like any feedback ASAP--I'm probably making my decision in the morning)---I currently have 8 inch rims with 35x12.5 MTRs (cant fit a 10 inch rim with those 35s on my ST) and I'm considering trading into a set of 10 inch rims with 33x12.5 Wrangler ATS. It would be a smaller tire (easier to balance out etc.) It would allow for a 10 inch rim (wider looking stance---which I prefer) It would be an AT instead of MT (I do 99% of my driving on paved highways) Plus it would get my gear ratio closer to stock (4.10 with the 35s is like 3.51 & with 33s it would be 3.73---Although I'm probably replacing my rear end anyway---Loooong story)
I like the bigger 35s, But think I'd like the wider 10 inch "wide rim" look with the 33s even better (maybe?)
Thanks for any imput.

I currently have a 3 inch body lift with about 2 inch Shackle/torsion lift. If I go to 33s I'll remove the shackles & drop the Torsion twist, just leaving the 3 inch body lift.
Off the subject, but then I may be able to remove those funky stepbars? With the TT/shackle & 35s I HAD to have the stepbars on.heres pics of my ST
