i tried doing a little search and came up short handed so if this is a repost im sorry plz for give this newb.

OK everyone ive lowered sports car's this is my first 4x4 im actually doing my self.
I have a 3" body lift on the way everything i need but the rear bumper brakets so im good there.( steering ext. ,front bumper brakets,. all hard ware ect....)
Next q is.
Im doing the SOA for the 5"s of lift. i have found a pair of 4 icnh spirngs for the front and just plane on doing some coil spacers in the front to make it a 5" lift there.

I know i need longer brake lines, i heard the Econo Brakelines work and there about $25 bux instead of SS wish are most exspenisive.

Naw i also heard about driveline problems with 5"s of lift? im wondering what parts i need. where to purchase them. and ect.. any help on this would be great.

thanks everyone for your help!

Allan

You can't just add on 4" coils (with spacers) and consider the front lifted. You will need an entire front lift "kit".

The sticker on your driver-side door will have an Axle Code. Search on here and you'll find a list showing what means what.

Alrite will do tomorrow durring my lunch break, i take it depending on what size gears is depending on what size tires i should run ?

Not necessarily. I wouldn't go above 33's with any stock gear ratio. I wouldn't go 33's with anything under 3.73. But it's up to you, the bigger you go the slower you'll feel.

Actually i want to slow down, thats the hole reason for the big tires and jacking this thing up + winter months comming very quickly.

my friend of 19 was just killed in a car accident while pasing another car, he died of head trama. i have a problem with speeding ,10 tickets in 4 yrs. I really want to slow down b4 i end up like him. infact i just got back from his wake =-( just made me relize how short of a time we have here, and how we need to live life to its fullest but be safe cause u never know when we could be taken from this earth.

Ill keep that in mind tho nothing bigger then 33's with under the 3.73 tomorrow ill look for my axel gear ratio. then maybe you all can help me out once again!.
thanks alot!

Sry about your friend. Just to let you know running large tires with high gears(3.55, 3.27, 3.08, etc.) is bad on the tranny. This is especially bad since the automatic(A4LD) that Ford put in the early Explorers is pretty unrealiable even with stock tires.

41 - Conventional - 3200 lb. Capacity - 3.27 Ratio

i have the 3.27 =-\ would i be ok to run a 32" tire?

Im not to wurried about the tranny...if it goes out, it goes out. My friend has 4 at his junk yard ;)

so whats the biggest you think i would be able to run safely with that gear rateing?

If it was me I wouldn't go higher than a 31 or small 32 MAX.

ide like to do a 32" i work at a tire shop, i can get 32's for about $90-$100 a piece..

Remington Wide Brute or Mud Brutes 32x11.50x15

i do mostly highway driveing not much off road AT all.. just some deep snow to get out of my driveway.

should i be fine with 32x11.50's?
