For everything they offer with it, 9K isn't a bad price.

Hi people new to the forum from Australia,
I have a 03 Explorer with the 4.0l Automatic 4x4.

I'm about to take on the task and try my hand at dropping the Barra 270T from a 2008 FG XR6 Turbo in it.
One problem I'm trying to get my head around is if I keep it 4x4 or just run it RWD?
Ill be looking at rebuilding the engine and running a bigger turbo.
Looking to get a winner with this big sleeper.

Any tips or tricks to help or lookout for on the way?

try a 4l barra motor from a XR6T ...the Aussies know what i mean.......

Barra 325T FGX Sprint
The final variant of the 4.0-litre I6 cylinder turbo-petrol engine featured in the FGX XR6 Turbo Sprint. The engine employs an over-boost feature for 10 seconds when optimal atmospheric conditions are met when under full throttle, boosting power & torque to 370 kW and 650Nm.

Power: 325 kW (436 hp) @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 576 N·m (425 lb·ft) @ 2750 rpm

i've attended dyno days and seen earlier barras pull 1k hp ...on a stock bottom end!!!

That 2.8 Cummins crate they came out with looks interesting and enticing, until that $9k price tag shows itself...

Since this is dreamland here goes mine.

I want a 351C with roller valve train , Aussie heads, and EFI bolted up to a C6 or FMX trans with a 9 in rear end with 3.73 gears.

pretty sure fg's run the same box as an explorer....so dealers choice really.....barra will be longer...lol....try an use the shifter from the fg.....sequential shifter in a 'sploder...with the turbo....say after me ...reverse entry corners

I am simply with Diesel. But what about Ford Ranger?
