Hi all,

This morning I was driving to work and smelled something burning. When I got to work I popped the hood & heard an intermittent sizzle and a small amount of vapor coming up from the center of the engine compartment. I think it smells like burning radiator coolant.

I investigate and found where the drips were dropping from. Note that I'm not sure if the drops originate from the spot I've highlighted or something right above it.

Also, my check engine light is on. I have been lazy & haven't checked it (will do so tonight & update this post). The engine is rattling & I think I have a misfiring cylinder. That happens once every 6-12 months for me and is fixed by replacing the offending spark plug.

Can anyone, from the pictures below, tell me what the problem is & suggest a fix.

Hi all,

Thanks,

Your leak is not from that hose your arrow indicates. Its the plastic piece right above it, that the 4 hoses attach to. The heater control valve.

The hose you have circled and pointed at is an A/C line.

Whoops reread your post. No more question.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Agreed, and check the coolant level before you drive it home.

I just looked up the heater control valve and I see that it is a fairly large part that encompasses the black can and the connection point for all 4 hoses there.

I should be able to pick one up tonight.

Thanks,
Sean
