in this picture the yellow circles are the only things that connect to the intake tube correct? now where the light blue is scribbled. is there any wires or important junk on the way. i want to cut it after the oil tube and before the last yellow circle on the right.(what is that called if you know)
thanks
Bob

HUa?

OKay there is nothing inside the tube, no wires, or anything like that.
The yellow circles are:
MAS air meter
crankacase breather tube
and the 3rd I am not sure but I think its the intake air temp sensor, earlier models didnt have this there.

You can cut all you want, but make sure you put the MAS and IAT back on!! hahaha the crankcase vent is nice to have but you can remove it, but you will want to put a filter or something on the valve cover to keep junk out.

Why do you want to cut it?

something to note.

Changine the distance from the MAS air meter to the throttle body is not a good idea.

Cutting the tube there and introducing air from outside (your new scoop) is NOT a good idea, all incoming air must go through the MAS or the truck will not run right

A basic understanding of what each sensor does and its purpose is necessary if I think you are planning on doing what it looks like you are doing....

im still in the planning and gathering info stage. i will take that into consideration. and i still intend to run it all through the mas. the scoop has a build in filter and i will just rerout the tube with another one and see if i can make it the same length.

dont forget the distance from the MAS to the throttle body is important , it will not fuinction properly if the MAS is right in front of the TB.....

Good luck! Looks wild! I have a cold air intake that works great, but I have no need for a big arse scoop like that! hahaha but to each his own I say so more power to you....

i plan on putting the MAS right after the scoop to keep it the same length. thanks for the support. keep checking in on the thread to see how its goin.

Wow that things crazy, but looks real good! BTW, do your headlights shine through there? I rerouted my intake, which involved extending the MAS wires, haven't noticed any adverse effects, and this was done around 6 months ago. I think as long as the MAS is at least 6 inches from the TB it's fine.

All right, I am considering putting a 95+ Explorer intake tube on my rig, and relocating the battery to the driver's side. Do you think I would be altering the distance between the MAS and TB too much, or would the difference be insignificant?

Rhett, like stated above it is okay to move the MAS, you just dont want to mount it too close to the TB. Apparently anything over 6" is fine.

I did like you are wanting to do, I re-loacted my BII battery, except I used an optima, put it on its side and mounted it above the pass side fender skirt, allowing me to use the 95 style intake hose, locating my KKM right behind the pass headlight.

Moving the MAS around is okay, whether its further away or closer, just dont put it too close..and when you do move it, reset the computer so the EEC can re-learn the new sensor signals.......

don't cut the breather tube i put a breather on mine and about 30 miles after i reset my computer the performance sucked i guess it was throwing off the calculation of the maf or something
