What is the difference between a Explorer 5.0 and a mustang 5.0? anyone?

they say it has gt40p heads which are what everyone wants on there mustangs which they say gives up to a 20 hp increase, if thats the case then why does the explorer only have only 215 hp?

Difference in cam, roller rockers, springs, and fuel injectors I believe.. and probably also the engine computer has something to do with it.

If you put in an E303 cam, change the rollers and springs, and get an aftermarket chip you'll now have a Cobra engine in your Explorer.. however, you also have to figure that the Explorer weighs more than a Mustang, has more rolling resistance (esp. if you have AWD), and don't forget the transmission gearing is probably different than that of a Mustang..

exhaust manifolds ont he explorer are also very restrictive so you gotta ditch those too before you have ourself a cobra 5.0L under your hood...

Thanks for the info I figured it was something like that, Since it is heavier and lets say I wanted to make the engine more like the cobra motor what do you sugest I change out and whatpd feul injectors does it come with?

not he msutang manifolds will not fit the Explorer.

how much hp do you think changes to roller rockers would give and how hard it it to do?

Changing roller rockers by themselves is a pretty minimal gain. You gotta change the cam too! Here is my write-up with all the prices I paid for each part.
